We thank Péter Molnos for confirming the authenticity of this work; a corresponding certificate of authenticity dated September 29, 2026 is available. - A scene by the Hungarian artist Hugó Scheiber (1873–1950), evidently inspired by Berlin’s nightlife. - Through his friend Lajos Kassák, Herwarth Walden became aware of Hugó Scheiber in 1919 and encouraged him to move to Berlin in 1922. Beginning in 1924, Walden regularly published Scheiber’s works in *Der Sturm* and listed him as an artist in the “Sturm-Galerie.” From 1924 to 1930, Scheiber presented his works at nine exhibitions, alongside works by Kádár, László Moholy-Nagy, Oskar Nerlinger, Kurt Schwitters, and Arnold Topp, among others. - Mounted on the reverse along the lower and upper edges of the sheet beneath the mat, with minimal rubbing in places.
