Maes, Karel. Geometric Compositions. 3 linocuts in red and black on smooth paper. Each monogrammed on the block; one print is also dated there; two sheets bear what appears to be a handwritten monogram and date in pencil. 1921. Image dimensions: 14 x 17 cm and 19 x 15.5 cm. Sheet dimensions: 20 x 26.5 cm and 20.5 x 28 cm. Three typical compositions by the Belgian avant-garde artist Karel Maes (1900–1974), who is considered a pioneer of geometric abstraction and was a co-founder of the magazine “7 Arts” (1922).
