Inscribed on the mat: “Sketch for the 2nd version (painting) 1912.” - The sheet is folded because it has small losses and tears in the image area along the right margin. - Upper margin taped, with 2 missing sections or gaps in the right margin; center fold with tears along the edge (taped in places); margins irregularly trimmed; slight foxing. - Provenance: Formerly the Archive for Art and History, private collection, Berlin.
