Gottfriedt, Dirk. Untitled. (Linear Composition). Felt-tip pen drawing on vellum. Signed and dated in the lower right corner; inscribed in the center: "To Mr. and Mrs. Schmitt, with warm regards, 4/12/79, Gottfriedt." 1979. Sheet dimensions: 51 x 73 cm. A very rare work by the artist and sculptor Dirk Gottfriedt (1944), who, since the mid-1960s, has devoted his work primarily to abstract themes such as space, movement, proportion and scale, support and load, and horizontal and vertical lines. The starting point for this is the line, which—through addition and subtraction, through opening and closing—constantly forms new abstract spatial structures.—Sporadically slightly stained, with minimal crease marks along the edges; otherwise in very good condition.
