Monogrammed and dated "M.A. 19" in the lower right corner, and signed, titled, and dated on the backing board on the reverse. 1919. Sheet dimensions: 31.7 x 13.7 cm. Probably one of the first abstract works by Max Ackermann (1887–1975), who for a long time oscillated between figuration and abstraction, between Verism and New Objectivity, between geometric forms and pure fields of color, until he finally settled on an exclusively non-representational visual language in the last years of his life. - On the reverse, firmly mounted on paper at the corners; the paper is in turn laminated onto cardboard, which is slightly browned. - Provenance: From the estate of the Ackermann family.
