Advertisement - Sachs, Friedrich Christian. F. Sachs & Son Carriage Factory. Hamburg. Neuer Pferdemarkt 27. Catalog of carriages. Includes 16 mounted original photographs. Vintage. Gelatin silver. Toned. Prints: approx. 12 x 17 cm. Hamburg, self-published, shortly after 1900. Original half-cloth binding with title on the cover (slightly scuffed and bumped). A very nice overview of “small carriage” production from the pre-automobile era. The photographs show all kinds of small carriages, some with added designations such as “Mylord,” “2-seater coupé,” “4-seater Landaulet,” and others. The title page features, on the reverse, a map excerpt of Hamburg at that time, showing the area between St. Pauli and the Inner Alster. The company building depicted on the title page is the new building completed in 1900, designed by Grotjan. The company was founded in 1834, ceased carriage production in 1910, and has since—to this day—dedicated itself to automobile manufacturing. - The mount is somewhat stained and discolored; the prints are partly slightly stained and show some scratches, but are still in good condition overall. #
