Ernst Dryden (1887–1938), a Viennese bon vivant and talented commercial artist in Berlin, Paris, and the U.S., had, among other things, served as an illustrator for the “Blaupunkt Cigarettes” of the Waldorf-Astoria cigarette brand, which was acquired by “Haus Neuerburg” in 1929. He continued to work there as an advertising artist, primarily promoting cigarettes for the modern woman. — The design is mounted in spots along the upper edge onto a backing; it is slightly rubbed and shows crease marks; the edges have discoloration and rare tears (backed).
