Brüning, Max. Untitled. (Naked Companion). Watercolor and fine-tip felt-tip pen on sturdy paper. Signed lower right. Probably the 1920s. Sheet dimensions: 30 x 24 cm. Max Brüning (1887–1968) moved to Berlin in 1923, where his studio quickly became a well-known gathering place for prominent figures from the worlds of film, art, sports, and politics. Brüning, who worked for magazines, designed posters, and also created etchings and pastels, became known above all for his erotically suggestive portraits of women and girls. - The sheet is slightly browned and rubbed, rarely with light soiling; the right margin has a few very small indentations in the paper.
