Huidobro, Vicente (Vincent). *Saisons choisies*. Poems. Includes a photographic portrait based on a work by Picasso, an autographed dedication, and several pencil drawings and additions by the author. Paris, Editions “La Cible,” 1921. 20 leaves, 23.5 x 19 cm. Original two-color printed cardboard cover (detached from the book block, discolored, minor edge wear, front cover with crease mark, lightening spots along the spine). First edition. The Chilean poet Huidobro (1893–1948) is considered the founder of “Creacionismo” in literature. During his years in Paris, he worked closely with avant-garde artists such as Picasso, Miró, and Apollinaire. This issue contains the essay “La Création pure” (from the journal “L’Esprit Nouveau,” April 1921) as well as poems from 1914–17 (previously published in “Horizon Carré,” 1917) and 1918–21 (pre-publication of “Automne Régulier”). - On the half-title page, a four-line personal dedication reading “O! Wasmuth!” with a signature and the addition “poète chilien,” possibly referring to the Berlin publisher Ernst Wasmuth. Huidobro has also added drawings of voluptuous nude women on both covers, beneath the dedication, on the Picasso portrait, the title page, and the first two pages; even his own portrait is adorned with breasts and an imitation “Picasso” signature. Above the introductory essay is an abstract drawing with the note “Portrait de la princesse. Brancusi.” The poems “Nouvelle Chanson” and “Téléphone” feature handwritten additions. — Missing the errata strip (occasionally preserved); slightly browned; faint water stain along the lower edge.
