First edition. - In addition to a brief introduction to the “German Road of Cinematography” (Berlin’s Friedrichstraße), Shklovsky compiled here principles of work organization and critical remarks on the Soviet “film factory,” along with three preview reviews of Soviet films. The artist K. Venc (Venc-Ejsler) also worked as a cinematographer beginning in 1927; the design of this volume reflects his collaboration on significant films of the Russian avant-garde (including those directed by Ya.
