Germany - Wartburg - The Restoration of the Wartburg, 1964–1966. Canvas-bound album containing 165 original photographs mounted on 53 inset panels, plus three text-only panels at the beginning. Case: 51 x 38 x 11 cm. An unusually elaborate case, likely intended as a gift for a high-ranking official. The director of Wartburg Castle at the time was Werner Noth, and the construction manager was Hans Matschke. The photographs were taken by Anton Zisska for the Wartburg Foundation in Eisenach. The photographs mostly show close-ups of the castle before work began; explanatory text is printed on the mounts. We have no further records of this case; it is likely a one-of-a-kind piece. — In good condition. #
