Embroidery Pictures—Four floral embroideries on paper. Germany, second half of the 18th century. 8.4 x 5.8 cm to 18 x 10.5 cm. Mounted on small boards beneath passe-partouts. Delicate, multicolored hand-embroidered pieces. Three embroideries on small sheets of handmade paper featuring a rose, a carnation, and a trellis of flowers surrounding a pair of hearts and beak-to-beak doves each; one larger, smoothed sheet of transparent paper with three carnation blossoms on a stem. - The handmade papers show some foxing; one corner of the rose leaf is an old attachment; the embroideries themselves are flawless and have a silky sheen.
