First edition in this design. - Printed by Krasnyj Proletarij. - The author, K. Ushinsky (1823–1874), left behind a significant and still influential legacy as an educational reformer, but also published texts for children. In keeping with his reforms, these texts guide children toward a democratically open approach to the world and were evidently included in the publisher’s catalog in 1928 for this very reason. - A few pages have smudges or faint color spots from the printing process; one corner of pages 3–4 has a watermark. Overall, a fairly neat, untrimmed copy. *
