Second edition. - Turchinskij, p. 327. - The silhouettes by Malevich’s student Yudin allude to the “absurd poetry” of his colleagues from OBERIU (whose works Yudin illustrated on several occasions). Yudin created not merely illustrations, but rather antithetical scenes, as if for a grotesque silhouette film. Printed in Leningrad by Poligrafkniga, this edition was sent to press in November 1936 but was not completed until 1937. Marshak’s “Riddles” had previously appeared in illustrations by other artists (K. Petrov-Vodkin, V. Ivanov, V. Ahmet’ev). — Slight crease on the lower outer corner; otherwise in good condition.
