The Provost and Dean of the Cathedral, Ferdinand Nicolai, declares, “that we have set our own servant, Anna Catharina Kümming, free...” The manumission is granted subject to the condition “that the freedwoman, under the pretext of a child’s share or otherwise, shall not have, retain, or seek any claim or entitlement to the aforementioned portion of our inheritance...” To the left of the signature is a note indicating the sum of 20 Reichstalers for the manumission, to be paid by Casper Hinrich Kümming in four annual installments of 5 Reichstalers each. – Very well-preserved document with a summary of the contents on the reverse side. #
