Glasurit, Tin can tower (advertising display) 1930s production. Tower consisting of nine stacked and connected paint cans. The Glasurit parrot sits atop the tower. Tinplate, colorfully lithographed. Height 114 cm. In 1888, Max Winkelmann founded a trading company for varnishes and paints in Hamburg. Soon after, he established his own varnish factory. Ten years later, the brand 'Glasurit' was registered. The name was chosen to emphasize the glaze-like, hard coating of the varnishes. In 1925, the parrot was finally registered as a protected trademark. Together with the lettering, the parrot has given Glasurit products their distinctive look to this day.
