Attributed to James Harrison, British, 19th century- Sketching near Hampstead; pencil and watercolour on paper, inscribed and dated 'nr Hampstead May 1842' and 'Geo Harrison / Mr [...] / G[?] Laporte / J[?] Harrison / C Martin / J.D. Wingfield' verso, 22.8 x 36.2 cm. Provenance: with Martyn Gregory, London [VH72]. Note: Several members of the Harrison family were active as watercolourists in the 1840s, including the brothers James and George, who appear to have been among the group listed on the back of the drawing—presumably fellow-sketchers; most of those listed are recorded as contributors to the watercolour exhibitions of the day.
