Follower of Patrick Nasmyth, Scottish 1787-1831- A wooded river landscape with two figures picnicking, and a cottage in the foreground; oil on panel, 24 x 34.5 cm. Provenance: Private Collection, UK. Note: Patrick Nasmyth's evocative landscapes were heavily informed by those of his father, Alexander Nasmyth (1758-1840), who was himself influenced by the Dutch masters of the 17th century, particularly Meindert Hobbema (c.1638-1709) and Jacob van Ruysdael (c.1629-1682). The present landscape resembles a number of Nasmyth's compositions, such as one which sold at Bonhams, London, on 4 August 2026, lot 47, and one which sold at Roseberys on 22 November 2023, lot 181.
