Circle of Paolo Anesi, Italian 1697-1773- An Italianate landscape with figures fishing in the foreground, and a ruined tower beyond; oil on copper, 15 x 22.2 cm. Provenance: Paul Wertheimer, Bielefeld, Westphalia (acquired circa 1930). Thence by descent to the present owner, grandson of the above. Note: Anesi was active mainly in painting capriccios and landscapes, in the style of Giovanni Paolo Pannini (1691-1765). The present works very much recall his idyllic Italianate landscapes, resembling, for example, a similar oil on copper which sold at Sotheby's, London, on 7 July 2016, lot 192, or another pair which sold at Sotheby's, New York, on 24 January 2008, lot 110.
Delivery is optional. You can use the carrier of your choice. The stated price does not include the lot price or the auction house fees.
