Follower of Antonio Tempesta, Italian 1555-1630- Battle scene, with a chariot on fire behind a mounted general; oil on canvas, bears later hand-written note inscribed in Italian attached to the upper stretcher bar, 44.3 x 118 cm. Provenance: Private Collection, UK. Note: The present work very much recalls Tempesta's tumultuous battle scenes, such as that which sold at Bertolami Fine Arts, Rome, on 13 November 2025, lot 34, or another which was offered at the same rooms on 5 March 2026, lot 70. The handling of the present work also resembles that of the Italian artist Marzio di Colantonio (c.1580-1623), who was himself believed to have been a pupil of Tempesta.
Delivery is optional. You can use the carrier of your choice. The stated price does not include the lot price or the auction house fees.
