HERNÁN PICÓ RIBERA (Barcelona, 1911 - 1994). "Coastal landscape".1957. Oil on canvas. Signed and dated in the lower right corner. Presents lack of paint in the center of the painting. Measurements: 80.5 x 100.5 cm; 91 x 110 cm (frame). The painting shows a quiet and quiet Mediterranean bay, with a terraced village that clings to the hillside and is gently reflected in the water. The palette is warm and earthy, tinged by a twilight light that unifies architecture, sea and mountain. The brushstroke is restrained but visible, more constructive than descriptive, achieving a serene and timeless atmosphere. In works such as this one, Picó privileges compositional harmony and the relationship between nature and human settlement, moving away from the gimmicky to build scenes of calm and contemplation. Hernán Picó made his individual debut at the Sala Busquets in Barcelona in 1945. Throughout his career he held numerous exhibitions in Spain, Mexico, Germany, France and Belgium, and was a professor at the Massana School between 1970 and 1975.
