NATIVITAT AYALA (Sabadell, Barcelona, 1956). “Red Flowers.” Oil on canvas. Signed and titled on the back. Shows slight imperfections in the paint. Measurements: 162 x 97 cm. A Catalan painter and visual artist belonging to the so-called generation of artists from Sabadell in the 1980s. She trained at the Escola Massana and the Escola Llotja in Barcelona, attended the Cercle Artístic de Sant Lluc, and later earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, specializing in painting, from the University of Barcelona. During the 1980s, she established her career through numerous exhibitions, and in 1989 she won the Vallès Art Biennial Prize. Her painting developed a personal and poetic universe, particularly evident in her large-format still lifes, conceived as symbolic spaces far removed from conventional representation. Chiaroscuro, surreal atmospheres, rich textures, and a sensibility with Baroque overtones became recurring elements of his artistic language. Beginning in the 1990s, he expanded his color palette and gradually incorporated the human figure and other motifs, while always maintaining a marked introspective and symbolic component. Ayala has combined his artistic practice with significant teaching work and illustration projects. He has exhibited in numerous galleries and institutions, and his work is part of the collections of the Museu d’Art de Sabadell and the Museu de l’Hospitalet de Llobregat, among other public collections.
