TRINITAT SOTOS BAYARRI (Sabadell, 1927–2019). “Seated Woman,” 1990. Oil on canvas. Signed and dated in the lower left corner. Measurements: 92 x 73 cm; 107 x 88 cm (frame). A Catalan painter based in Santander, Trinidad Sotos Bayarri has been painting since childhood, and at just twelve years old she won the children’s contest at the Academy of Fine Arts in Sabadell. She later studied under the master Antonio Vila Arrufat from 1940 to 1946 and eventually continued her training at the Sant Jordi School of Fine Arts in Barcelona, graduating in 1951. She then continued her training in Italy and France (1952–57) and lived for a time in New York. Since his debut in 1946, he has held exhibitions at prominent venues such as the Biosca in Madrid (1957), the Raymond Duncan in Paris (1959), the Ward Eggleston in New York (1961), the Trianón in Madrid (1970), etc.
