DANTE GUIDOTTI (Baradero, Argentina, 1988). “Sagrada Familia.” Oil on canvas. Signed. Certificate of authenticity included. Measurements: 120 x 80 cm. The monumental presence of the Sagrada Familia serves as a starting point for Dante Guidotti to transform a recognizable architectural motif into a visionary image. The sharply ascending perspective reinforces the verticality of the church, while a large, glazed-looking radial structure expands across the composition, altering the perception of real space and bringing it closer to the realm of fantasy. Architecture thus ceases to function solely as a representation of a specific place and becomes the setting for a perceptual and emotional experience. The use of color contributes decisively to this transformation. The building’s warm, rosy tones are hallmarks of contrast with luminous blues, greens, and yellows, while the curved, organic forms establish a direct dialogue with Gaudí’s architectural language. This combination of observation and imaginative displacement is consistent with the artist’s interest in exploring the boundaries between reality, perception, and dreams. Dante Guidotti is a contemporary artist whose practice centers primarily on oil painting. His work explores the relationship between reality, perception, and the dream world, transforming recognizable objects and spaces into images that are emotionally charged and, at times, surreal. He exhibited in Argentina—Buenos Aires and Patagonia—between 2001 and 2017, and subsequently in the Netherlands, with shows at Fort Jutphaas, Nieuwegein, in 2024; Nieuwegein and CATCH Utrecht in 2025. In 2026, she exhibited at BUAT Gallery in Barcelona.
