DANTE GUIDOTTI (Baradero, Argentina, 1988). Untitled. Oil on canvas. Signed. Certificate of authenticity included Measurements: 115 x 75 cm. In this work, Dante Guidotti transforms the image of a butterfly into a monumental presence that dominates an almost visionary landscape. The figure emerges from a turbulent atmosphere, built up through broad swaths of color and loose brushwork, while its intense orange glow is a hallmark of the dark areas of the surroundings. The tiny human figure at the bottom accentuates the extraordinary scale of the apparition and reinforces the sensation that we are witnessing an experience closer to a dream than to the direct observation of nature. The butterfly, recognizable yet partially merged with the clouds and light, allows Guidotti to explore one of the recurring themes in her painting: the transformation of elements of reality through perception and the personal imagination. The hallmarks of the composition are the warm tones of the central figure, the violets and blues of the lower areas, and the luminous turquoise sky. Dante Guidotti is a contemporary Argentine artist whose practice centers primarily on oil painting. His work explores the relationship between reality, perception, and the dream world, transforming landscapes and recognizable elements into images of an emotional and surreal nature. He has exhibited in Argentina and, later, in the Netherlands, with shows at Fort Jutphaas in Nieuwegein and CATCH Utrecht. In 2026, he participated in an exhibition at BUAT Gallery in Barcelona.
