RAMIRO FERNÁNDEZ SAUS (Sabadell, Barcelona, 1961). “Boya,” 2000. Oil on canvas. Signed and dated on the reverse. Measurements: 29 x 34 cm. Ramiro Fernández Saus studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Barcelona, and after graduating, he traveled to London in 1989 on a scholarship from the Government of Catalonia, where he studied at Delfina Studios. He has held numerous solo and group exhibitions in both national and international galleries, including, for example, the Estampa Gallery in Madrid in 1996 and 2000, the Helga de Alvear Gallery in Madrid in 1997, the Marisa Marimón Gallery in Orense in 1996, the Long & Ryle Gallery in London in 1999 and 2001, and the Siboney Gallery in Santander in 2001. He has also participated in exhibitions at museums such as the Museum of Contemporary Art in Madrid in 1994 and the Sabadell Art Museum in 2000. His raw and expressive style draws on the contributions of the historical avant-garde movements, particularly German Expressionism, with which he shares a rough, primitive drawing style characterized by strong linearity and a direct confrontation with the viewer.
