After ROBERT INDIANA (New Castle, Indiana, 1928 – Vinalhaven, Maine, 2018). “Love Blue.” Painted polystone sculpture, edition 020/500. Edition by Éditions Studio. Comes with a certificate of authenticity from Éditions Studio and the original box. Measurements: 15 x 15 x 7 cm. Robert Indiana’s famous “LOVE” composition is one of the most recognizable images of American Pop Art. This small-format sculptural edition reproduces its characteristic typographic design, consisting of four letters arranged in two rows, with the “O” tilted, and combines the blue of the front surfaces with the red of the sides. Originally conceived in 1964, the “LOVE” motif gained widespread recognition after it was used on a Christmas card by the Museum of Modern Art in New York in 1965. Its transformation into a sculpture cemented an image that combines the clarity of graphic design with the expressive power of language. Robert Indiana was a key figure in Pop Art, renowned for his compositions based on words, numbers, and symbols of American culture. His work is represented in institutions such as MoMA and the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, which dedicated the retrospective “Robert Indiana: Beyond LOVE” to him in 2013.
