Part of the “CONTACT” series, “Abduction” translates the idea of an alien presence and the moment of an abduction into the language of gestural abstraction. The composition is organized around a powerful dark form suspended above a vertical beam of light, suggesting movement, energy, and an uncertain apparition. The restrained palette, in shades of ochre, gray, and black, reinforces the work’s enigmatic atmosphere, while the rapid brushstrokes, scattered splotches, and hallmarks of contrast between background and figure lend dynamism and visual tension. Mabel Heredia is a Valencian artist based in Barcelona whose work focuses on contemporary abstraction. Through gestural forms and textural hallmarks, her work explores ideas linked to the unknown, the imagination, and other possible realities. She has exhibited at venues such as the Thomson Gallery in Zug, the Nicoleta Gallery in Berlin, the Galerie Le Chien d’Or in Quebec, and the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris.
