PEP SALLÉS (Sabadell, 1956). “Houses,” 2003. Oil on canvas. Signed and dated in the lower right corner and on the back. Measurements: 50 x 61 cm. A painter, designer, and set designer, Pep Sallés has followed in his own unique way the multidisciplinary teachings promoted by the Bauhaus. It is fair to say that he has devoted himself body and soul to painting, creating a simple and harmonious language in which geometric forms in flat tones predominate. His work is striking for its spontaneity and the blend of diverse styles such as Surrealism, metaphysical painting, and abstraction. His compositions are characterized by the interplay between flat planes and space, or perspective directly related to color.
