Markus Vallazza* (St. Ulrich 1936 - 2019 Bozen) Bundle of 103 works size from 8,5 x 7 cm till 30 x 50 cm mostly signed Markus and numbered SCHÄTZPREIS / ESTIMATE € 3000 - 4000 STARTPREIS / STARTING PRICE € 3000 Markus Vallazza was a South Tyrolean painter, graphic artist, and art educator associated with abstract modernism; his work is characterized notably by geometric compositions, Constructivist reliefs, and spatial art. Born in 1936 in St. Ulrich in Gröden—the son of a woodcarver—he studied under Joseph Wiedermann at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich from 1956 to 1962. Starting in 1965, Vallazza participated in exhibitions by the Neue Gruppe (New Group) in Munich, and from 1968 onwards, he taught as a professor at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano. As a co-founder of the South Tyrolean Artists' Initiative, he played a pivotal role in shaping the regional art scene; in 2005, he was awarded the South Tyrol Culture Prize. Vallazza’s body of work encompasses Constructivist reliefs, large-format acrylic paintings, metal reliefs, and spatial sculptures defined by clear geometry, pure planes of color, and constructive reduction. In his wall installations and expansive spatial works, he combines the principles of Concrete Art and geometric abstraction with the Bauhaus tradition and a structural perception of the Alpine landscape. Through this approach, he developed a distinctive, rhythmically structured visual language rooted in both international abstract modernism and the tradition of South Tyrol’s Ladin artists. PLEASE NOTE: The purchase price consists of the highest bid plus the buyer's premium, sales tax and, if applicable, the fee of artists resale rights and platform fee.
