Erwin Wurm* (born 1954 in Bruck an der Mur) Question mark, 2008 lithography/paper 4 x 12 cm signed EW, dated 2008 inscribed "?", numbered 16/40 SCHÄTZPREIS / ESTIMATE € 1000 - 2000 STARTPREIS / STARTING PRICE € 1000 Erwin Wurm is one of the defining Austrian artists of the present day. Since the 1980s, he has developed a distinctive body of work spanning sculpture, photography, performance, and drawing, in which everyday objects, human bodies, and social conventions are—often humorously—thrown off balance. His famous "One Minute Sculptures" transform the body itself into a fleeting sculpture, combining conceptual art with a unique sense of absurdity and irony. Wurm’s exploration of volume, proportion, and perception engages with key questions in modern and contemporary sculpture. At the same time, his work enters into a dynamic dialogue with the artistic positions of Franz West and Martin Kippenberger, as well as the performative strategies of the Fluxus movement. Humor, exaggeration, and the deliberate subversion of the ordinary serve as artistic tools through which Wurm questions consumer society, body image, and the bourgeois way of life. PLEASE NOTE: The purchase price consists of the highest bid plus the buyer's premium, sales tax and, if applicable, the fee of artists resale rights and platform fee. In the case of normal taxation (marked ° at the estimate), a premium of 24% is added to the highest bid. The mandatory sales tax is added to the sum of the highest bid, the buyer's premium and platform fee. This amounts to 13% for paintings, drawings, graphic works and sculptures and 20% for photographs and all other items. The buyer's premium amounts to 28% in case of differential taxation. The sales tax is included in the differential taxation.
