Siegfried Anzinger* (born 1953 in Weyer) Forci XVII oil and pastel/canvas 35 x 45 cm SCHÄTZPREIS / ESTIMATE € 500 - 1000 STARTPREIS / STARTING PRICE € 500 Siegfried Anzinger is an Austrian painter, graphic artist and sculptor from Weyer in Upper Austria. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna under Maximilian Melcher from 1971 to 1977 and is regarded as one of the leading figures of the ‘Neue Wilde’ movement in Austria. In 1982, Anzinger moved to Cologne, where he has lived and worked ever since; he has been a professor at the Düsseldorf Art Academy since 1997. His works combine expressive painting with figurative motifs and often straddle the line between abstraction and representational art. Anzinger took part in documenta 7 in Kassel in 1982 and represented Austria at the Venice Biennale in 1988. His awards include, amongst others, the City of Vienna Prize for Painting and Graphic Art, the Oskar Kokoschka Prize and the Grand Austrian State Prize. Artists associated with his artistic circle include Erwin Bohatsch, Gunter Damisch, Alois Mosbacher, Hubert Schmalix, Hubert Scheibl, Maria Lassnig, Herbert Brandl, Rudolf Goessl, Walter Vopava and Otto Zitko; stylistically, his works can be described using the terms ‘Neue Wilde’ and Neo-Expressionism. PLEASE NOTE: The purchase price consists of the highest bid plus the buyer's premium, sales tax and, if applicable, the fee of artists resale rights and platform fee. In the case of normal taxation (marked ° at the estimate), a premium of 24% is added to the highest bid. The mandatory sales tax is added to the sum of the highest bid, the buyer's premium and platform fee. This amounts to 13% for paintings, drawings, graphic works and sculptures and 20% for photographs and all other items. The buyer's premium amounts to 28% in case of differential taxation. The sales tax is included in the differential taxation.
