Johann Julian Taupe* (born 1954 in Villach) Untitled oil/paper 60 x 20 cm SCHÄTZPREIS / ESTIMATE € 600 - 1000 STARTPREIS / STARTING PRICE € 600 Johann Julian Taupe (*1954 in Gritschach, Kärnten) is an Austrian painter and graphic artist who lives and works in Vienna and Kärnten. From 1976 to 1981, he studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna under Max Weiler and subsequently worked as an assistant to Arnulf Rainer from 1981 to 1983. In 1983/84 he received the Austrian State Scholarship for Fine Arts, followed by international residencies in Geneva, Mojácar in Spain and Paris. His artistic practice encompasses painting, gouache and drawing, and has been presented in numerous exhibitions in Austria and abroad. Taupe's work is characterised by abstract colour compositions in which geometric-constructive structures meet lyrical and gestural elements. Rather than depicting visible reality, his paintings develop as autonomous colour-form events governed by their own internal logic. Colour, form, space and light become the central means of expression, resulting in open, dynamic and often intensely coloured pictorial worlds. His artistic language has been described as an open system that combines seemingly opposing approaches without adhering to a fixed compositional scheme, placing his work within the diverse traditions of contemporary Austrian abstraction. PLEASE NOTE: The purchase price consists of the highest bid plus the buyer's premium, sales tax and, if applicable, the fee of artists resale rights and platform fee. In the case of normal taxation (marked ° at the estimate), a premium of 24% is added to the highest bid. The mandatory sales tax is added to the sum of the highest bid, the buyer's premium and platform fee. This amounts to 13% for paintings, drawings, graphic works and sculptures and 20% for photographs and all other items. The buyer's premium amounts to 28% in case of differential taxation. The sales tax is included in the differential taxation.
