Robert Libeski* (Aachen 1892 - 1988 Klosterneuburg) Viennese Prater, 1933 oil/canvas 62 x 76 cm signed Libeski, dated 33 SCHÄTZPREIS / ESTIMATE € 2600 - 4000 STARTPREIS / STARTING PRICE € 2600 Robert Libeski is a painter and graphic artist belonging to a tradition spanning from the Vienna School to international modernism. Early on, he was influenced by his teacher Rudolf Bacher at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts, and through the Vienna Secession and the Künstlerhaus Wien, he connected with the avant-garde movements of his time. In his Klosterneuburg studio, Libeski developed a distinctive visual language that incorporates influences of Expressionism as well as classical themes such as landscapes. His encounter with the ideas of Josef Hoffmann, who redefined the relationship between art and space, and his engagement with the expressive portraits of Oskar Kokoschka particularly shaped Libeski's sense of form. At the same time, the structured composition and use of color in his works reveal echoes of the Cubist spirit of Pablo Picasso, Fernand Léger, and Georges Braque. This international openness connects him with the attitude of the École de Paris, whose synthesis of individuality and stylistic will is also tangible in Libeski's multifaceted work. PLEASE NOTE: The purchase price consists of the highest bid plus the buyer's premium, sales tax and, if applicable, the fee of artists resale rights and platform fee.
