Nuremberg Doctors' Trial: (4) Original Press Photographs Four original vintage glossy 10 x 8 press photos from the first of the twelve 'subsequent Nuremberg trials,' all stamped on the reverse with a "Günther Peis" photographer's credit and US Army stamp: "From Public Relations Photo Section, Office Chief of Counsel for War Crimes, Nürnberg, Germany." Subjects include Nuremberg courtroom scenes, with shots of defendant Wilhelm Beiglboeck studying records of experiments performed at Dachau and defendant Oskar Schroeder consulting with his defense attorney. In overall very good to fine condition, with a rusty paperclip mark to one photo. The Doctors’ Trial, formally United States of America v. Karl Brandt et al., opened in November 1946 as the first of the twelve subsequent Nuremberg proceedings conducted by American military tribunals after the International Military Tribunal concluded. Twenty-three physicians and administrators were prosecuted for war crimes and crimes against humanity arising from lethal medical experiments and the Nazi euthanasia program, making these photographs vivid contemporary records of the opening stage of one of the most consequential postwar prosecutions.
