Nuremberg Doctors' Trial: (4) Original Press Photographs Four original vintage press photos from the first of the twelve 'subsequent Nuremberg trials,' 8 x 10 and 10 x 8, all stamped on the reverse with a "Günther Peis" photographer's credit and US Army stamp: "From Public Relations Photo Section, Office Chief of Counsel for War Crimes, Nürnberg, Germany, APO 124-A, US Army." Subjects include Nuremberg courtroom scenes, with shots of defendants Joachim Mrugowsky, Hans Wolfgang Romberg, and Siegried Ruff entering their 'not guilty' pleas. In overall very good to fine condition, with staining to one of the photos. The Doctors’ Trial, formally United States of America v. Karl Brandt et al., opened in November 1946 as the first of the twelve subsequent Nuremberg proceedings conducted by American military tribunals after the International Military Tribunal concluded. Twenty-three physicians and administrators were prosecuted for war crimes and crimes against humanity arising from lethal medical experiments and the Nazi euthanasia program, making these photographs vivid contemporary records of the opening stage of one of the most consequential postwar prosecutions.
