MAISON BROT - Triptych mirror with brass frame. Plate on the back. (wear, pitting) 130 x 55 cm each mirror Note: Founded in Paris in 1826 by François Brot, a mirror maker at the court of King Charles X, Maison Brot established itself in the 19th century as one of France’s leading manufacturers of mirrors. In 1875, the company developed the three-panel triptych mirror, an innovation that, thanks to its hinged panels, allowed users to view multiple angles of reflection simultaneously. This invention enjoyed lasting success, particularly among fashion houses, fitting rooms, and luxury establishments. Combining technical ingenuity with decorative elegance, these mirrors became one of the Parisian manufacturer’s specialties. In 1927, the company continued its innovations with the Mirophar, a magnifying mirror with a light. This large triptych mirror with a brass frame, bearing the manufacturer’s plaque on the back, is a testament to the French craftsmanship developed over nearly two centuries.
