(wear on the patina, small chips on the base) Height with base: 37.3 cm Note: André-Vincent Becquerel (1893–1981), a French sculptor trained under Hector Lemaire and Prosper Lecourtier, is best known for his animal bronzes from the Art Deco period. His body of work also includes picturesque figures and folk subjects, sometimes produced by the foundries Susse Frères and Edmond Etling. Among these compositions is an *Old Couple from Normandy*, depicting two elderly figures in traditional costume; a chryselephantine proof of this work is documented on the art market.
