ALONZO Dominique (active 1910–1930), after The Water Carrier. Bronze sculpture with a golden and synthetic ivory patina. Signed on the base. Height: 23 cm. Note: Active during the early decades of the 20th century, Dominique Alonzo was a French sculptor trained by Alexandre Falguière, whose works were exhibited at the Salon des artistes français between 1912 and 1926. Her work is particularly notable for its elegant female figures, often created using the chryselephantine technique, which combines patinated or gilded bronze with ivory. Her statuettes, representative of the transition from the Belle Époque to Art Deco, illustrate the period’s taste for female figures in refined costumes. This *Water Carrier*, modeled after a design by Alonzo, incorporates this decorative style through a combination of gilded bronze and synthetic ivory.
