Aux Combottes is an exceptional premier cru surrounded on all sides by grands crus: Latricières-Chambertin to the north, Charmes-Chambertin to the east, and Clos de la Roche on the Morey-Saint-Denis side, to the southwest. It takes its name from its location, at the mouth of the Combe Grisard, in a zone of geological and climatic transition between Gevrey—from which it derives its structure—and Morey—from which it derives its finesse. 1995 is a vintage of structure. After a wet and unsettled spring, the hot, dry summer fostered gradual ripening, punctuated by a few showers in September. The harvest yielded healthy, ripe grapes. The wines combine concentration, freshness, and tannic structure, with fine aging potential. 2005 stands out as a benchmark vintage. After a long, cold winter, the contrasting spring led to imperfect flowering, marked by coulure and millerandage. The hot, dry, and sunny summer—punctuated by timely rains in August—followed by a dry September, allowed for perfect ripening and healthy grapes. The wines are distinguished by a ripe and supple tannic texture, as well as by an expression of terroir that is mineral, energetic, and powerful. 2015 is a sun-drenched vintage. After a mild and wet winter, the warm and bright spring encouraged rapid and early flowering. Heat and drought set in starting in June, tempered by water reserves and summer rains, which reignited the ripening process through September. 2015 epitomizes a balanced vintage that combines fruit, body, ripe tannins, and fine acidity. Its aging potential is remarkable. Domaine Hubert Lignier will be pleased to welcome the winning bidder for a private tour of the estate, for two guests. The date of the visit will be mutually agreed upon by the buyer and Domaine Hubert Lignier. The estate will be delighted to welcome the bidder through December 31, 2027.
