Frame with plant motifs. Spanish School. 18th century Carved and gilded wood with shell. Rectangular frame richly ornamented with vegetal reliefs alternating acanthus leaves and bulbous motifs, arranged in a rhythmic sequence that generates visual dynamism. The curved and counter-curved shapes are masterfully crafted to create a vibrant surface, highlighted by a glossy gilding that accentuates the play of light and shadow. The robust structure and harmonious proportions reflect the refined decorative language of the Spanish Baroque, where formal exuberance served both to embellish and magnify the symbolic importance of the framed pictorial or devotional content. This type of frame was very common for religious works and portraits of private devotion, a testament to the taste for late Baroque ornamentation. 64 x 43 cm (external dimensions), 46 x 36 cm (light).
