RUSSIAN ICON (Russia, early 19th century) - Christ the Blessing Oil on panel. Dimensions: 52 × 42 cm. The work depicts Christ in the act of blessing, following the traditional iconography of Christ Pantocrator, one of the most widespread images in Orthodox painting. The figure is shown half-length, with his right hand raised in a gesture of blessing while holding the Gospel in his left, a symbol of his spiritual authority and his role as judge and savior of the world. The composition reflects models inherited from the Byzantine tradition, widely disseminated in Russian workshops. The solemn face, the frontality of the figure, and the intensity of the gaze reinforce the devotional character of the image, conceived for prayer and contemplation. This type of icon was common in early 19th-century Russia, both for domestic worship and for small liturgical spaces. Lot in international warehouse (within the EU). Intra-EU shipping: no import duties apply within the EU. An export permit from the country of origin may be required.
Delivery is optional. You can use the carrier of your choice. The stated price does not include the lot price or the auction house fees.
