Neolithic steatopygic female figurine in marble, Mediterranean region, c. 5000–3000 BC Dark gray matte marble with small brown veins and inclusions. Dimensions: approximately 9.8 cm high × 6.3 cm wide × 3.2 cm deep. Weight: approximately 260 g. Neolithic female figurine of the steatopygous type, characterized by a head that is disproportionately large in relation to the body, prominent breasts, a rounded abdomen, arms folded across the torso, a carefully carved vulva, and pronounced development of the thighs and buttocks. The piece is entirely freestanding and exhibits a marked formal abstraction, with rounded volumes and an absence of defined facial features. Documentation links this type of figurine to possible votive, religious, or funerary functions symbolically associated with fertility and the so-called “mother goddess.” Condition: intact and in excellent condition, with no indicated restorations or repairs; it retains traces of polishing and old work, small cracks, pitting, sedimentary deposits, and surface alterations typical of age. Provenance: a family collection in Poland and Greece; the important Greek collection of RWB Pardiak, from the 1960s to 2000; formerly a private Greek collection passed down through family lineage, with acquisitions dating back to before the 1960s and a tradition of finds or excavations dating back to before the 1930s in the Balkans, the eastern Black Sea region, and northern Greece. Exhibited at the Yanto Alexander Fine Art Foundation, Amersfoort, the Netherlands. Lot stored in an international warehouse (within the EU). Intra-EU shipment: no import duties apply within the EU. An export permit from the country of origin may be required.
