The Nativity of the Child Jesus with the Virgin, Saint Joseph, Saint Elizabeth, and Saint John the Baptist – Italian School – 17th century Oil on canvas. 93 × 74 cm. Framed: 108 × 85 cm. A religious composition centered on the Christ Child, depicted naked and reclining on a bed covered with white cloths. The Virgin Mary, dressed in a red tunic and dark mantle, leans toward the Child while holding a cloth. To her right stands a bearded male figure, identifiable as Saint Joseph, and behind Mary is an elderly female figure. On the far left is the infant Saint John the Baptist, accompanied by a reed cross. The scene features an arrangement of figures characteristic of Italian devotional painting, with attention to gestures, facial expressions, and symbols of Christ’s childhood.
