NORTH AMERICAN SCHOOL. 20TH CENTURY. Figures in Motion, 2000. Black-and-white photographic print. Dimensions: 35 × 28 cm. This artistic and experimental photograph features a composition of multiple human silhouettes arranged in various positions and scales, some with outstretched arms and others in poses suggesting leaps, falls, or movements suspended in space. The dark figures stand out against a background of gray and white tones, crisscrossed by curved lines, dotted strokes, and geometric elements that create a complex visual structure. A large, sinuous line crosses the image diagonally, defining the different planes and reinforcing the sense of dynamism and depth. The superimposition of forms, the fragmentation of bodies, and the spatial ambiguity lend the work an aesthetic akin to photomontage and the explorations of avant-garde photography. His visual language evokes the experiments of László Moholy-Nagy (1895–1946), particularly through the use of unusual perspectives, tonal contrasts, and abstract compositions built on the interplay of form and movement, as well as certain approaches by Man Ray (1890–1976), such as the manipulation of photographic images, the superimposition of elements, and the creation of visual spaces with surrealist undertones.
