Buddha, China, Tang Dynasty (618–907) Buddha seated in meditation on a lotus-shaped base, with his legs crossed in the "padmasana" posture. Both hands are in ritual gestures, one resting on the knee and the other on the right foot, evoking the attitude of meditation or the fulfillment of a wish. He wears a wide monastic robe, an “Uttarasangha,” with rounded and pronounced folds, characteristic of religious sculpture. The surface has a uniform, aged patina, with traces of oxidation and inclusions resulting from prolonged exposure in an archaeological setting. The head and part of the right arm are missing, although the iconography allows for the identification of a Buddha image associated with Mahayana Buddhism, of the type of sculpture found in caves or sanctuaries along the Silk Roads. White marble or alabaster. China, Tang Dynasty (618–907). 31 x 25 cm. Lot located in an international warehouse (within the EU). Intra-EU shipping: no import duties apply within the EU. An export permit from the country of origin may be required.
Delivery is optional. You can use the carrier of your choice. The stated price does not include the lot price or the auction house fees.
