Provenance: collection of Laurent Danchin (1946–2017), writer, essayist, and art critic, passed down through the family. Born in Anglet, Carbonel met Jean Dubuffet in 1960 during the retrospective dedicated to him at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs. He maintained a correspondence with Dubuffet for over twenty years. He developed a technique involving the mixing of emulsions. Dubuffet referred to it as his “battles with liquid densities.” He retired near Blois in 1973.
