Jano Pesset (French, born in 1936) "Re... Création" Assemblage of driftwood, carved and painted. Signed. H 100 W 40 D 23 cm. Provenance: collection of Laurent Danchin (1946–2017), writer, essayist, and art critic, passed down through the family. Jano Pesset grew up with his grandmother in the mountains of Ariège. After the Liberation, he moved to Bordeaux. Trained as a fitter, he worked in many different trades. The 1966 Picasso retrospective at the Grand Palais inspired him to take up sculpture. In a basement studio in the Chevreuse Valley, he worked with humble woods: ivy, hazel, and roots. He was included in the Collection de l’Art Brut in Lausanne through the efforts of Alain Bourbonnais.
