HERMES PARIS BEFORE 1972 Silver pitcher with a capacity of seventy-five centiliters. The pitcher has a truncated conical shape, and the spout is cast as a single piece. The handle and its mounting depict an element of a horse’s bridle, recalling that the House of Hermès was founded in Paris in 1837 by Thierry Hermès as a saddler and harness maker. Minerva hallmarks on the top of the neck and the handle, a silversmith’s hallmark within an illegible diamond (only the letter H is legible), and the full name inscribed along the lower rim: HERMES .
