A GANGWAY PERRY BUOY FOR H.M. AIRCRAFT CARRIER ILLUSTRIOUS, 1982 canvas covered cork finished in white with polychrome name inscribed H.M.S. ILLUSTRIOUS and flanked with ship badges and outer-grab rope, complete with polythene cover of issue -- 30in. (76cm.) diam. Launched at Swan Hunter in 1978, Illustrious - know affectionately as 'Lusty' by her crew - was rushed into commission for the Falklands War of 1982. She was decommissioned in 2012 and scrapped in 2016.
